3. Set Up the Simulation

3.1 Create Simulation

NEW MODEL

If you decide to create a model from scratch, firstly choose the analysis type which fits the simulation case best. The picture below lists all supported analysis types.

The list is defined according to the flow and structural mechanics. Once you select the desired flow type, click the ‘Create Simulation’ button. This leads to the SimScale Workbench. Below is the most applicable analysis type to simulating airflow in our project. 

 

FLOW

  • Incompressible: This analysis type is suitable when the fluid density variations are negligible. This is typically valid when velocities and temperature gradients are small.

Template​

 

If you chose to use a template, then the "Incompressible" model would have been preselected, so we would need to select it in the simulation tree to change its parameters.
